Claressa Shields criticized Jake Paul for his reactions regarding the cancellation of the Gervonta 'Tank' Davis boxing exhibition. The cancellation followed fresh allegations of domestic violence against Davis.
Jake Paul's boxing promotion, Most Valuable Promotions, announced on Monday that the Netflix event scheduled for November 14th "will no longer be moving forward." Nakisa Bidarian, Paul's business partner, shared that they aimed to "navigate this situation responsibly" and plan to have Paul face a different opponent on Netflix at a later date in 2025. Davis is no longer part of the event.
These developments coincided with court documents revealing an ex-girlfriend’s claim that Davis choked her inside a Miami strip club on October 27th, among other incidents.
Paul called Davis "an actual walking human piece of garbage" in his statement on X.
Shields responded, expressing skepticism about Paul's surprise at the allegations:
"I have a few things to say about that. One: I will say this, I'm not going to say I 100 percent agree with what Jake said, but what I will say is that we all knew Tank's background with domestic violence before his fight got made. Before any of his fights get made, we already know he's got some issues with this. This is not his first, second, or even third time with something like this coming out."
She implies Paul should not feign shock at the situation, emphasizing existing knowledge of Davis's past behavior.
