“Columbia is just such a warm hug for me every time I go back,” Melvin said.

Melvin’s return to Columbia comes nearly a year after he replaced Hoda Kotb as co-anchor. He described 2025 as a year of adjustment to his new demanding role.

His schedule often includes traveling to multiple cities weekly, attending fundraisers, hosting town halls, luncheons, and promoting “TODAY.” Despite the busy pace, he continues reporting as well.

“You don't just host the show, you're not just one of the pieces of the show,” he explained.
