Judge Gary Polk at the Riverside Hall of Justice sentenced Jake Haro to 25 years to life in prison for the death of his 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro.
Haro faced multiple charges, including murder, assault on a child under 8 causing death, and filing a false police report. He initially entered a not guilty plea but later changed it during a felony settlement conference on October 16.
According to court records, Haro had previous incidents of child abuse prior to Emmanuel’s death. The court also ordered him to pay $10,000 in restitution.
“Haro and his wife, Rebecca Haro, were arrested on August 22 after Rebecca reported that kidnappers had taken Emmanuel, claiming she was knocked unconscious while changing his diaper near a Big 5 Sporting Goods store on the night of August 14.”
