Seven neighbours from a street in Brookmans Park have shared a £1 million prize through the People's Postcode Lottery. The winning postcode, AL9 6PT, was drawn for the weekly “Millionaire Street” prize.
Two households took home £249,999 each with three tickets, one household won £166,666 with two tickets, and four households received £83,333 each for one ticket.
One of the triple-ticket winners, 52-year-old Steven Bean, announced his plan to donate part of his and his wife Olesya’s winnings to a charity supporting adults with learning difficulties.
“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned,” said Steven.
The charity, Camphill Milton Keynes, reported on October 9 that its only minibus had been stolen and later found burned. Despite insurance coverage, replacement costs remain high.
“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too,” added Steven.
Lucy Davies, head of development at Camphill, expressed her gratitude, noting the incident had been especially upsetting for the charity’s residents.
“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting,” said Davies.
Brookmans Park residents shared a £1 million Postcode Lottery win, inspiring prizewinner Steven Bean to donate part of his share to a charity hit by theft and loss.
