A new country is set to officially join the normalization agreements with Israel, known collectively as the Abraham Accords, according to an announcement by US President Donald Trump’s special envoy on Thursday, Anadolu reported.
Speaking at the FII Priority Summit in Miami Beach, Florida, on February 20, 2025, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff shared the upcoming development but did not reveal which nation would be joining the accords. He confirmed that he would return to Washington for the announcement later that evening.
“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce another country joining the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said during a business forum in Miami.
President Trump is scheduled to host five Central Asian leaders — from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan — at the White House on Thursday evening. It remains unclear whether the announcement will occur during this event, though the President is expected to take part in any major declaration.
The Abraham Accords, initiated during Trump’s first term, established diplomatic relations between Israel and several Muslim-majority nations, marking a notable shift in Middle Eastern diplomacy.
A new state is preparing to enter the Abraham Accords, expanding diplomatic ties with Israel as the US continues to broker normalization across Muslim-majority nations.
