Antonio Brown, former NFL wide receiver, was arrested on an attempted murder charge related to a shooting that followed a celebrity boxing event in Miami. The incident reportedly occurred on May 16.
Miami police confirmed on Thursday that Brown, 37, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Dubai. He was subsequently flown to Essex County, New Jersey, where he is currently held awaiting extradition to Miami.
It remains unclear why Brown was first brought to New Jersey or the duration of his stay in Dubai, despite his recent social media activity from there.
According to an arrest warrant, Antonio Brown allegedly grabbed a handgun from a security staffer after the boxing match and fired two shots at a man with whom he had previously been involved in a fistfight.
Antonio Brown's arrest highlights ongoing legal troubles for the former NFL star following his sports career.
