Manchester City is set to secure the Premier League championship if Manchester United fails to earn three points against Liverpool on Sunday.
Manchester City moved within reach of their third Premier League title in four years with a convincing 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
"It was a long time that I hadn’t played 90 minutes," Aguero told the BBC. "The goal was good because maybe we can win the Premier League. Of course, if Liverpool win it’s better."
Pep Guardiola’s squad controlled the match but struggled to find the breakthrough until Sergio Aguero scored a spectacular half-volley just before the 60-minute mark.
Moments later, Ferran Torres increased the lead with a precise low shot. Raheem Sterling and Joao Cancelo also came close to scoring, with Sterling hitting the post.
With four games remaining, City boasts 80 points, 13 points clear of Manchester United. United will face Liverpool at home on Sunday, knowing a loss would hand City the title.
If United manages a draw, they would remain mathematically in contention, but their goal difference is significantly worse than City's.
