Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is being extradited to Miami to face charges related to an attempted murder incident. The charge stems from a shooting outside a celebrity boxing event in May.
Miami Police confirmed on Thursday that 37-year-old Brown was extradited from Dubai to Miami. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed he arrived via Newark, New Jersey, and was booked into Essex County Jail the same day.
While evading authorities, Brown posted videos from Dubai. Miami Police spokesperson Officer Michael Vega said,
“He was kind of taunting us, saying, I'm safe here, and that's what we interpreted from those videos, but you know what, he was laughing then, we're getting the last laugh.”
Officer Vega added,
“No matter who you are, what power or what money you have, if you commit a crime in the city of Miami, we're going to identify and locate you and bring you to justice.”
Brown is now in custody in New Jersey, awaiting further legal proceedings in Miami.
