The New Jersey Devils host the Montreal Canadiens at Prudential Center to start a three-game homestand. The winner of tonight's game will become the first team in the league to reach 10 wins this season.
The Devils took to the ice at Prudential Center for their morning skate ahead of Thursday night's matchup. Center Cody Glass participated in line rushes and is set to return after missing seven games due to an upper-body injury.
"It was a weird injury to have, it popped out of nowhere," Glass said. "I'm happy to be back with the guys."
He added, "I’m 100 percent and shouldn’t be limited at all. I'm just trying to jump right into it, get hit, see how it goes. It’s hockey."
Forward Connor Brown, who practiced the previous day but has missed two games, was not on the ice during the skate.
With Glass returning, the Devils will restore the line that fueled their eight-game winning streak. Glass will resume his role as the third center, allowing Mercer to switch to wing and reunite with Nico Hischier and Timo Meier.
Additionally, some defensive responsibilities will be eased for rookie Arseny Gritsyuk, who will shift down to the third line.
Author’s summary: Cody Glass returns from injury, enabling New Jersey to reinstate their successful lineups as they aim for a milestone 10th win against Montreal.
