Natalie Cassidy, 43, has reopened the discussion about her experience with bullying during her school years. The EastEnders actress previously named Paloma Faith, 44, as one of her bullies in an episode of her podcast earlier this year.
Both celebrities attended the same secondary school in London—Islington Green School, now City of London Academy Islington. Natalie grew up in Islington, while Paloma was raised in Stoke Newington.
Paloma Faith, she bullied me at school.
On Katherine Ryan’s What’s My Age Again podcast, Natalie suggested jealousy over her early career success might have been a factor. She joined EastEnders at age 10, and her school peers may have envied her.
There wasn’t anywhere else I wanted to be. Maybe because when I wasn’t there, school was difficult, people were jealous.
You know, there was bullying that went on. So I always just wanted to be there because it was so fun and I was surrounded by nice people.
Natally expressed that the soap set was her sanctuary compared to the difficult atmosphere at school caused by jealousy and bullying.
