John Ferretti, the incumbent Republican, won the Hempstead supervisor race against Democrat Joe Scianablo. The GOP retained strong control of the town board, holding a 6 to 1 majority based on unofficial results.
Ferretti previously served as the representative for District 15 in the Nassau County Legislature before his appointment to the Hempstead supervisor position.
"With 100% of the vote counted, the Republican Party continues to dominate the town board structure," the report stated.
