L.A. Dodgers' Alex Vesia and Wife Kayla Mourn Death of Their Daughter

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia took a hiatus from the team during the 2025 World Series due to a deeply personal tragedy. On October 26, their newborn daughter passed away.

“Our little angel we love you forever & you’re with us always,” Alex and Kayla Vesia shared on Instagram on November 7. “Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”

The couple expressed gratitude toward the Dodgers organization for their support during this difficult time.

“Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them,” they said. “Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort.”

They also recognized the medical staff who cared for Kayla and their daughter.

“Lastly, we’d like to thank Cedars Sinai and all the medical staff who helped Kayla and Sterling,” the Vesias wrote. “Every person we came across was truly so incredible. With Love, The Vesias.”

The Dodgers announced Alex Vesia’s hiatus through the team's official Instagram on October 23.
