Jerusalem: LWF Strengthens Dignity and Justice for Palestinians

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities in the Holy Land through healthcare, education, and advocacy. During his visit to Jerusalem this week, LWF President Bishop Henrik Stubkjær emphasized the organization’s dedication to its work in the region.

Visit Highlights and Engagement

As part of a week-long stay in the Holy Land, Bishop Stubkjær met with representatives from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, as well as partners and political leaders. His visit included stops at the Augusta Victoria Hospital in East Jerusalem and vocational training centers serving Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Addressing Ongoing Challenges

Palestinian communities continue to face the impacts of military occupation alongside mounting economic difficulties. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent conflict in Gaza have intensified the hardships experienced by local populations.

Medical Care and Vocational Training

LWF World Service programs provide crucial medical and vocational support to build resilience and hope in these communities.

“As a global communion, we remain steadfast in our commitment to strengthening the presence and work of LWF World Service, supporting people in need here in the Holy Land,” said LWF President Bishop Henrik Stubkjær.

These efforts contribute to safeguarding dignity and justice for Palestinians living under complex and challenging conditions.
