President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating increased to 63 percent this week, driven by strong public support for his diplomacy and the recent Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, according to a poll released Friday.
The survey, conducted by Gallup Korea from Tuesday to Thursday among 1,002 adults, showed a 6 percentage point rise in positive evaluations compared to the previous week. This marks the first time in about six weeks that Lee's approval rating surpassed 60 percent.
Negative ratings dropped 4 percentage points to 29 percent.
At the APEC summit, Lee held bilateral talks with leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
During his discussions with Trump, the leaders finalized details of Seoul's US$350 billion investment commitment in exchange for reduced U.S. tariffs.
Summary: Lee Jae Myung’s approval surges past 60% due to effective diplomacy and successful APEC summit engagements, reflecting growing public confidence.
