Claire Elise Boucher, known as Grimes, former partner of billionaire Elon Musk, expressed concerns about artificial intelligence and its impact on children in a brief but sharp comment.
The musician highlighted what she sees as a critical danger, saying,
“the biggest imminent threat is just outsourcing thinking.”She linked this threat to AI technology, which her ex, the SpaceX and Tesla owner, has integrated into the social media platform X.
Grimes drew attention to potential harms, referencing research that AI might “atrophy the brain.” She told Doomscroll’s Joshua Citarella,
“I'm tired of experimenting on kids you know, smoking, MacDonalds and now we're gonna do it with this?”
While fearing that AI could harm children, even to the point of causing death, she also shared a conflicted anticipation for the future, stating,
“In some ways I can't wait for superintelligence - in some ways I can't wait. It's not as easy since I've had kids.”
Grimes warns of the growing dangers of AI’s influence on young minds, emphasizing the challenges of parenting amid rapid technological change without age controls on AI platforms like X.
