Peloton Recalls 833,000 Bike+ Units Due to Safety Issues

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a warning to Peloton users to stop using certain Bike+ exercise bikes immediately. Peloton is recalling approximately 833,000 original Bike+ machines after reports of seat post failures during use.

Details of the Recall

The affected Bike+ units were sold between January 2020 and April 2025. The CPSC has received three complaints about the issue, including two reports of user injuries caused by broken seat posts.

“The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities,” said Márcio Oliveira, Peloton’s SVP of Global Hardware Operations and Product Safety. “We are taking this opportunity to make replacement seat posts available to all affected Bike+ users and we encourage them to contact us to receive the redesigned seat post as soon as possible.”

Background and Company Response

Peloton previously recalled about 2.2 million exercise bikes in 2023 due to safety concerns after customers reported injuries. This recent recall comes as the company continues to face challenges, including leadership changes and significant workforce reductions last year.

Upcoming Developments

Author’s summary: Peloton recalls over 800,000 Bike+ units due to seat post failures linked to injuries, issuing replacement parts amid ongoing company challenges and a scheduled earnings report.
