The Vienna Community Action Committee (VCAC), a local non-profit, offers free clothing to residents through the 1805 Closet. Clothes are distributed on the first Monday of each month from 8 a.m. at the Vienna Presbyterian Church.
The clothing drive serves men, women, children, and infants, and is open to the public. VCAC Director Stephanie Garito said,
"There's over a thousand articles of clothing up there."
VCAC partners with the Walmart in Liberty, which donates clothing and food to support the organization’s efforts. Liberty Walmart store manager Robyn Mediate shared,
"We enjoy coming out to Vienna and volunteering and making it a little easier for Vienna to support their community."
Garito founded VCAC in 2024 to listen to community needs and provide assistance. Vienna township trustee Michael Haddle highlighted the group's importance, saying,
"You need a community group and people that are willing to step outside, donate their time and money."
The committee's next initiative, Vienna Christmas, will take place on Dec. 14. This event will offer a holiday feast to locals who might otherwise have no food. The organization noted a local resident donated $1300 to support the event.
VCAC strengthens the Vienna community by providing essential support through clothing and holiday programs backed by local partnerships.
