World-renowned actor, comedian, fundraiser, and campaigner Eddie Izzard, now known as Suzy, visited St Michael’s CofE Primary School in Louth on November 3. The visit was organized by the Creativity Academy, a Lincolnshire-based charity focused on fostering creativity and confidence in young people.
Suzy Eddie Izzard is currently touring globally with her acclaimed solo production The Tragedy of Hamlet. During the visit, she met with Key Stage 2 pupils and staff and performed selected scenes from the show, which has recently enjoyed sellout runs in London and on Broadway.
The one-hour visit included a conversation between Izzard and Ben Keaton, a multi award-winning actor, writer, director, and founder of the Creativity Academy. Their discussion covered creativity, Shakespeare, and the experiences of a working artist. The two first collaborated on the London comedy circuit in the 1990s.
“Our aim has always been to give children direct access to outstanding creative minds — to show them that art, performance and ideas belong to everyone,” said Ben. He added the visit would be “an unforgettable experience for the young people and a brilliant reminder of what’s possible when imagination meets courage.”
The Creativity Academy is a registered charity based in East Lindsey.
Summary: Suzy Eddie Izzard’s visit inspired young students by blending Shakespearean drama with insights into creativity and the arts, highlighting the power of imagination and courage.
