A tornado struck Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, a town of 14,000 in Paraná state, killing six people and injuring over 700, local authorities reported on Saturday.
The twister hit Friday evening, spinning cars like toys and demolishing buildings within minutes. Winds reached speeds up to 250 km/h (155 mph), accompanied by hail.
“What will become of us?” said Roselei Dalcandon, standing beside the rubble of her former store.
Among the six fatalities, five were adults and one was a 14-year-old girl, according to the Paraná state government.
