Environment Canada has issued its first snow squall watch of the season, warning that driving conditions could quickly become hazardous as visibility may drop to near zero at times.
The agency projects that those regions could receive between 15 and 30 centimetres of lake-effect snowfall by Tuesday.
“Lake effect snow off Lake Huron is expected to begin impacting Lambton County tonight (Sunday) and possibly locations near the eastern shore of Lake Huron on Monday morning,” Environment Canada said. “Snow squalls may extend towards Lake Erie as well. Northerly winds are expected to become northwesterly late Monday into early Tuesday. As a result, lake effect snow will further impact areas to the east and southeast of Lake Huron.”
Drivers are urged to prepare for deteriorating road conditions and to exercise caution during travel.
Environment Canada warns of heavy lake-effect snow and dangerous driving in several Ontario regions as cold winds shift, while local news ranges from sports results to community updates.
