The Trump administration has announced that it will not provide financial assistance to struggling farmers until the government shutdown ends.
According to Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins, the government needs to be reopened to move forward on the assistance package.
Once we do that, we’ll be able to move out a significant program to help our farmers.
Although $13 billion was transferred from the Commodity Credit Corporation account on September 28, 2025, to fund the aid package, the terms and size of the package have not been announced.
Secretary Rollins and President Trump have blamed the sluggish farm economy on former President Joe Biden’s inaction.
Democrats have criticized Trump and Rollins, stating that they are betraying U.S. farmers.
