Phoenix experienced record-breaking weather on Saturday, with 0.7 inches of rain falling at Sky Harbor Airport, surpassing the previous record of 0.3 inches set nearly a century ago on Oct. 11.
“Most areas got anywhere between a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall with some areas — isolated areas — over an inch of rain,"
said Gabriel Lojero, a weather service meteorologist. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Phoenix that extends to Sunday night, but Lojero noted that no heavy rainfall has hit the areas of Globe and Miami, which were devastated by intense flooding last month.
