A truck driver, identified as 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh, was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of a drug causing injury.
Singh, who is in the United States illegally, was involved in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 10 in Ontario, California, that killed three people.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, an immigration detainer has been placed on him.
