Hallowell Fire Chief Requests Indefinite Medical Leave
Hallowell fire Chief James Owens has submitted a request for indefinite medical leave, according to City Manager Ross McLellan.
Owens, who has been Hallowell's fire chief since 2017, made the request on Tuesday morning, pending additional medical documentation.
City officials have declined to comment further, citing it as a personnel matter.
Owens said he was frustrated that city officials released information about his request.
Owens stated that he has been dealing with medical issues for years and had been considering taking medical leave for a while.
