Judge Rules Against Nonprofit in Groundwater Extraction Case
A Humboldt County Superior Court judge has ruled against the nonprofit Friends of the Eel River (FOER) in a lawsuit regarding groundwater extraction management in the Lower Eel River Valley.
The lawsuit, filed in 2022, claimed that Humboldt County was not adequately protecting public trust resources by failing to consider the negative effects of groundwater pumping, particularly during late summer and early fall.
