Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, has made a request through his lawyers ahead of a court hearing.
Robinson's lawyers argue that if the request is not met, it could hinder the possibility of a fair trial. Robinson was arrested and taken into custody for the alleged assassination of Charlie Kirk, which occurred on September 10 at a Utah Valley University event.
Kirk was shot and killed while speaking publicly, prompting a massive manhunt. The FBI announced an arrest less than two days later, and Robinson has since been charged with seven offenses, including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice.
While a potential motive for the killing has not been disclosed, if convicted, Robinson could face capital punishment. Notably, Utah is one of five states that still employs a firing squad as a method of capital punishment.
