A Fallon native, Melissa de Vera, is being honored with the Arthur S. Flemming Award for her outstanding contributions to government service.
De Vera, who serves with the Indian Health Service (IHS), will receive the award on November 2 in Washington, D.C. for her leadership in the IHS Sanitation Facilities Construction Program.
Her work “strengthened the Indian Health Service’s Sanitation Facilities Construction Program through cross-boundary leadership and strategic partnerships.”
Her innovative approaches have helped deliver $3 million in projects, providing safe drinking water and waste disposal systems for American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
