Medieval Tower Collapse in Rome
A medieval tower near the Colosseum in Rome has partially collapsed during renovation work, injuring at least one worker and trapping another.
Firefighters are attempting to rescue the trapped worker, who is alive and has been stuck beneath the rubble for hours. The rescue efforts are complex due to the structure's instability, with rescuers being forced to retreat multiple times.
Rescue methods have included the use of telescopic aerial ladders and a drone to assess the situation. As night fell, firefighters employed a crane with giant tubes to remove rubble from the second-floor window.
The 29-metre-high Torre dei Conti, located near a popular tourist hotspot, is the site of the incident.
Rescuers faced a challenging task as the structure continued to give way.
