Three Locust Valley High School filmmakers, Raffaele Giannattasio, Justin Kwok, and Dean Wolfe, won an award for their short film "Chronicle of a Boy Displaced" at the Long Island 72-Hour Film Festival.
Working under the name Piejinks Productions, they had just 72 hours to write, shoot, and edit a three- to seven-minute short film.
"We've all made films independently and this presented a challenge to test our creativity,"
said Dean Wolfe. Their project earned Best Use of Character at the festival held on Oct. 17.
The festival kicked off with a unique prompt, including a genre, character name, prop, and line of dialogue, which the team had to incorporate into their film.
According to Wolfe,
"Seeing it live and watching everyone react so positively to our film was incredibly rewarding. That's what you live for as a filmmaker."
