The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced an urgent recall of three tomato sauce products due to concerns over potentially deadly food poisoning. The affected sauces were produced by First and Last Bakery, LLC in Connecticut and have been linked to the risk of Botulism caused by Clostridium botulinum bacteria.
The FDA identified that the sauces were “manufactured without an approved schedule or otherwise evaluated to determine if the process is adequate,” increasing the chance of dangerous bacterial growth. Botulism is a serious and potentially fatal form of food poisoning.
Customers are advised, “not to use the sauces and to return them for a full refund.”
These sauces come in 26 FL OZ jars distributed mainly in Connecticut and Massachusetts, available at Big Y and Stop & Shop stores since September 22, 2025. The use-by dates on the affected products are for September 2026.
The FDA has suspended the sale and production of these sauces to “ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements.”
Related recalls include Aldi and Lidl notifying customers with urgent warnings:
“do not eat” their affected snack products.
