‘The best fans in baseball:’ Toronto Blue Jays president and CEO thanks supporters

Mark Shapiro, president and CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays, recently expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans for their unwavering support throughout the baseball season.

Following the Blue Jays’ return to the World Series after more than 30 years, the team was ultimately defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 11th inning of Game 7 in November. Despite the outcome, it was an impressive journey that united longtime fans and newcomers rallying behind “Canada’s team.”

“Thank you to our fans — the best in baseball. You travelled great distances to support us, filling our ballpark at home and supporting us at stadiums. You gathered around screens and radios from thousands of kilometres away,” Mark Shapiro wrote in his letter.
“Your energy, your love, your hopes and beliefs reached our players and lifted us all. None of us will ever forget what that coast-to-coast-to-coast support meant or how it felt.”

Shapiro is recognized as one of Major League Baseball’s top executives, bringing over two decades of front office experience. Before joining the Blue Jays in 2015, he worked 24 seasons with the Cleveland Guardians organization.

“We toppled the Yankees on their home turf to win the Division Series,” Shapiro added, highlighting one of the team’s memorable achievements this season.

The Blue Jays’ remarkable season rekindled enthusiasm among fans across the country and showed the strength of their nationwide support.

Summary: Mark Shapiro thanks Blue Jays fans for their passionate, coast-to-coast support during a memorable season culminating in a World Series appearance after decades.
