Rumors about poisoning of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, who fled Syria, do not correspond to reality, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We, based solely on humanitarian considerations, have granted asylum to Bashar al-Assad and his family. He does not have any problems with living in our capital, there have been no poisonings. If such rumors appear, I leave them on the conscience of those who spread them,"
Lavrov said, responding to a request from journalists to comment on the reports that have appeared. The poisoning of Assad was reported by the British tabloid The Sun, which claimed that on January 2, 2025, Assad allegedly began coughing and choking heavily, and tests revealed poisoning.
The fugitive dictator was allegedly treated at home.
