On November 5, the Seattle Kraken hosted the San Jose Sharks for their first matchup of the season. The Sharks dominated the game, securing a convincing 6-1 win over the Kraken.
The Sharks took an early lead just one minute into the match. When the Kraken attempted to clear the puck, John Klingberg kept it alive with a pass to Tyler Toffoli, who then passed to Macklin Celebrini at center ice. Celebrini quickly fired a shot to score the opening goal.
As the first period was winding down, the Kraken managed to tie the game. With three and a half minutes left, Ryan Winterton carried the puck through the neutral zone and approached the net. His initial shot was blocked by Sharks' goalie Yaroslav Askarov, but Shane Wright collected the rebound and passed it to Ryan Lindgren at the blue line. Lindgren returned the puck to Winterton, whose follow-up shot hit the corner of the net, earning his first NHL goal.
Two minutes later, Jeff Skinner stole the puck from the Kraken in the neutral zone and skated towards the net alongside Alexander Wennberg. Skinner passed across to Wennberg, who then set up Ethan Cardwell. Cardwell's shot slipped past Kraken goalie Joey Daccord, putting San Jose ahead once again.
