Several Miss Universe contestants walked out of a pre-pageant ceremony following a public confrontation between Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch and Miss Universe Thailand National Director Nawat Itsaragrisil on November 3.
During a livestreamed event on Miss Universe Thailand’s Facebook page, Itsaragrisil called out Bosch, questioning her commitment to promoting the organization. He said, “Mexico, where are you? I heard you did not agree to post everything about Thailand, about every article of our own activities. Is it true?”
Bosch acknowledged she had misunderstood the obligations expected of her. This led to Itsaragrisil intensifying his criticism, accusing her of following only her national director's orders.
“If you follow the orders from your national director, you are a dumb head.”
Itsaragrisil also scolded Bosch for standing and speaking, to which she responded firmly, asserting her right to a voice and expressing that she was not being respected as a woman.
“I have a voice,” Bosch said, emphasizing she was not being respected as a woman.
The confrontation caused a number of contestants to leave the ceremony in protest, highlighting tensions within the event's organization.
The livestream of the incident remains accessible for viewers.
