Macklin Celebrini registered one goal and two assists as the San Jose Sharks earned a 6-1 win over the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Wednesday.
San Jose (5-6-3) improved to 4-1-1 in its last six outings. The Sharks’ penalty kill proved solid throughout the night.
“Our penalty kill was really good tonight. So that helps,” said Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky. “I thought our game got better as the game went on.”
Seattle’s Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal to level the game 1-1 at 16:30 of the first period. The Kraken (6-3-4) wrapped up a five-game homestand with a 2-1-2 record. Starting goalie Joey Daccord made 15 saves before Matt Murray replaced him in the third period, adding three saves in relief.
“Disconnected in a bunch of different areas,” Kraken coach Lane Lambert said. “Our structure wasn’t good enough tonight.”
Celebrini opened the scoring just 1:08 into the game, taking a pass from Toffoli and beating Daccord with a wrist shot.
“I was just in the slot and put it in,” Celebrini said. “Smith and Toffoli did a great job forcing a turnover.”
Celebrini’s strong performance, backed by Askarov’s goaltending and balanced team scoring, lifted the Sharks over Seattle in a decisive road win.
