Macklin Celebrini contributed a goal and two assists as the San Jose Sharks secured a 6-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Wednesday. The Sharks improved their recent form to 4-1-1 in the last six games, now holding a 5-6-3 overall record.
"Our penalty kill was really good tonight. So that helps," said Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky. "I thought our game got better as the game went on."
Seattle, now 6-3-4 for the season, was led by Ryan Winterton who scored his first NHL goal. The Kraken concluded their five-game homestand with a 2-1-2 record. Joey Daccord started in goal and made 15 saves before being replaced by Matt Murray in the third period, who stopped three shots.
"Disconnected in a bunch of different areas," Kraken coach Lane Lambert said. "Our structure wasn't good enough tonight."
Celebrini opened the scoring just 1:08 into the first period by converting a pass from Toffoli into a wrist shot past Daccord's blocker.
"I was just in the slot and just there to put it in," Celebrini said. "[Smith and Toffoli], they did a great job, getting on their D and forcing a turnover."
Winterton tied the game at 1-1 with a goal at 16:30 of the first period, but the Sharks dominated thereafter.
The San Jose Sharks showcased a balanced offense and solid defense, improving their momentum with a convincing win over the Seattle Kraken.
