Oklahoma's Lindy Waters, an NBA player for the San Antonio Spurs, is leveraging his platform to encourage Native students to aim for higher education. Alongside preparing for the upcoming season, Waters is hosting an event designed to expose Native students to the college experience.
Season Preparations and Personal Updates
Waters shared about his busy schedule: "I've been busy. Getting ready for the season with the San Antonio Spurs. I had a great camp, had an eye appointment and unfortunately they found a couple of small tears but we got that repaired. Hopefully, can make my return in the next week."
Inspiring Native Students Through Community Events
Through his foundation, Waters is organizing events aimed at motivating Native students toward academic achievement. He explained his motivation:
"We're trying to be able to use my platform to expose them to higher education... I would want someone with the same stature, or platform to provide that for me if I was younger."
This initiative seeks to provide young Native Americans with meaningful support and inspiration to pursue college degrees.
