Netflix will expand the Stranger Things universe with an animated series, Stranger Things: Tales From '85, set to debut in 2026. The spinoff is placed chronologically between Seasons 2 and 3 of the live-action show and features familiar characters including Eleven, Mike, Max, Lucas, Dustin, Will, and Hopper.
The story unfolds in Hawkins during a harsh winter in 1985, as Eleven and her friends face a new paranormal mystery.
The series is led by showrunner Eric Robles alongside Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer.
“With animation there's really no limits,” says Ross Duffer. “Erica and his team can just go wild, and they have.”
Netflix released an announcement trailer showcasing animated clips and concept art, highlighting the show's visual style and tone.
The original live-action Stranger Things will conclude with its fifth and final season, streaming in three parts starting November.
