Thailand has taken a significant step in developing its national drone infrastructure with a large-scale drone delivery pilot in Bangkok. The project, named “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” is a collaboration between Thailand’s National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation.
The pilot showcased the integration of High Lander’s Vega UTM (unmanned traffic management) platform with NT’s advanced 5G network. This combination provided real-time flight coordination, visibility, and safety assurance for all drones participating in the project.
During the event, dozens of drone deliveries were completed carrying various items, including medical supplies, agricultural products, and consumer goods, demonstrating the feasibility of drone logistics in urban environments.
“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.
This pilot project represents a milestone in Thailand’s efforts to safely integrate drone deliveries into urban airspace using cutting-edge technology and regulatory support.
