MONTREAL — The Los Angeles Kings continue to shine away from home, defeating the Montreal Canadiens 5-1 on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre. Quinton Byfield and defenseman Joel Edmundson each registered a goal and an assist, helping the Kings secure their fourth consecutive road victory.
After falling behind 1-0 on Josh Anderson’s late first-period goal, the Kings erupted for three goals within just over four minutes early in the second period. Edmundson’s first of the season ignited the rally, as the team quickly turned the deficit into a commanding lead.
Darcy Kuemper stopped 21 shots, improving the Kings’ overall record to 8-5-4 and their road mark to 7-1-2. The win extended Los Angeles’ road point streak to eight games (6-0-2) and marked their ninth consecutive victory over Montreal — their longest active streak versus any opponent.
Anderson’s goal came in the final minute of the opening period, assisted by Lane Hutson, the defending NHL Rookie of the Year, who was skating in his 100th career game. Goaltender Sam Montembeault recorded 21 saves as Montreal dropped to 5-2-1 at home, ending a six-game point streak (4-0-2).
"Say what you want about their performance on home ice this season, the Kings are having little trouble winning on the road."
The Kings extended their road dominance with a 5-1 triumph in Montreal, powered by balanced scoring and strong goaltending, continuing their impressive eight-game road point streak.
