A man trapped in a Phoenix canal during heavy rain and storms on Monday has been rescued, according to authorities.
Crews from the Phoenix Fire Department responded to the area of 13th Street and Indian School Road, where they found the man in the canal, which was flooded with around 3 feet of water.
The man told rescue crews he had fallen into the canal and couldn’t get out.
Firefighters used a ground ladder, which the man used to climb out on his own. He is in stable condition and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation as a precaution.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across metro Phoenix on Monday, causing widespread power outages and triggering a fast-moving storm in the Valley.
