Family Argument Turns Deadly in West Phoenix
One man is dead and another is in custody after a family argument in west Phoenix turned deadly on Sunday night, authorities said.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, 31-year-old Brandon Alvarez was arrested for shooting and killing his stepfather, Jaunarius Moreno.
Alvarez faces second-degree murder charges for the fatal shooting, police said. Officers responded to a home near 39th and Maryland avenues for reports of a shooting around 7:35 p.m.
Alvarez called 911 operators and told them he shot his 57-year-old stepfather. Officers then cleared the home and found Moreno in the backyard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
The Phoenix Fire Department responded and pronounced Moreno dead on the scene.
Authorities reported the incident occurred on Sunday night.
