Motorcycle deaths continue to rise in Colorado; State Patrol says ‘distracted driving’ to blame

Motorcycle Deaths on the Rise in Colorado

According to the Colorado State Patrol, 2024 has been the deadliest year on record for motorcyclists in Colorado, with a record high in motorcycle crash deaths.

The state patrol is urging both riders and drivers to take responsibility to help save lives. Sgt. Ivan Alvarado of the Colorado State Patrol stated,

"We have been recording deaths for a while, and I could tell you that 2024 saw a drastic increase in motorcycle deaths across the state, and we had a total of 165 deaths up to July 23 of this year."

Alvarado emphasized the need for caution,

"We're already at 61 deaths when it comes to motorcycle riders. One death is too many, and we're trying to talk to everybody out there, especially the riders, that they need to ride carefully."

The Colorado State Patrol attributes the increase in motorcycle deaths to

"distracted driving"
. With 2024 being the deadliest year on record, the patrol is calling for increased awareness and caution on the roads.
