Federal decision on scaled back Tasmania wind project delayed for fifth time

Federal Decision on Tasmania Wind Project Delayed

The St Patricks Plains wind project in Tasmania has faced its fifth delay in awaiting a decision under the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.

The project, initially designed for 67 turbines, has been scaled back to 47 turbines with a capacity of 291 megawatts (MW). It was deemed to require federal supervision under the EPBC Act in 2019.

A Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water spokesperson stated that the delays, including the most recent one, were requested by the project's developer, Ark Energy.

The new deadline for the decision is November 28. Ark Energy has been contacted for comment on the matter.

No comment has been received from Ark Energy at this time.

The project is proposed for a site in Tasmania's Central Highlands, south-east of Milena and 25km north of Bothwell.
