Dover-Foxcroft Restaurant Closes Temporarily Due to Drought

Peace Love Waffles, a restaurant in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, has been closed for over two weeks due to a lack of water.

The restaurant's well has run dry, prompting the construction of a new, deeper well. The old 80-foot well is being replaced with a 320-foot one.

“That’s kind of a part of us being out here. Out here, kind of in the middle of nowhere, we are on our own water system. And that’s something that we had to get approved by the town and everything like that,”

said Michael Begley, the owner of Peace Love Waffles. The restaurant is expected to reopen this weekend.

The use of well water is unusual for a restaurant, but Begley notes it is part of the charm of being in rural Maine.
