Gov. Kay Ivey has proclaimed October as Farm to School Month in Alabama, celebrating the connection between local farmers, schools, and students.
The Alabama Farm to School Program received $1.595 million from the State legislature for the Farm to School incentive program in 2020.
"We are proud to see Alabama students enjoying fresh, locally grown foods, while also supporting Alabama farmers," said Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Rick Pate.
Commissioner Pate added that Farm to School Month highlights the importance of connecting the next generation with where their food comes from.
