Prescription Drug Take Back Day
The Ingham County Sheriff's Office is partnering with Delta Dental of Michigan for its annual prescription drug take back day on Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm at Delta Dental in Okemos.
This event coincides with National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 25. The public can drop off unused pain relievers, anti-depressants, sleep aids, and pet medications during the drive-thru event, no questions asked.
According to the Ingham County Sheriff's department and Delta Dental, over 70 pounds of unused prescription drugs were collected last year. The health department reports that prescription drug abuse has increased among youth over the past decade, with about 80 percent of people misusing prescription drugs obtaining them from family members and friends.
No questions asked during the drive-thru event.
