Milford Baptist Church celebrated Pastor Clarence Howard's 20th anniversary as pastor of the church on Sunday, Oct.
Pastor Howard was born in Easley, S.C., and grew up in Pickens County. He attended Clemson University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in social work, and later received his theological training at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity degree.
According to Pastor Howard, his strong work ethic was instilled in him by Pastor Garland Sentell of Pickens, S.C., who would visit every patient at the local hospital daily.
Pastor Howard's appreciation for alliteration in his sermons was inspired by Dean M. Weaver, pastor of Forest Hill Baptist Church in Anderson, S.C.
