Former CDC Director Rochelle Walensky and Dan Jernigan, former director of the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, expressed concerns over the trustworthiness of CDC guidance at the STAT Summit Boston.

Layoffs, leadership changes, and politics have contributed to the erosion of trust in CDC information, according to the former officials.
