A Mount Pleasant neighborhood is seeking the town council's assistance in installing speed humps on a road with a concerning reputation.
Residents of the Oaks at Marsh View have been trying to get speed humps on Mossy Branch Way for nearly four years. According to Sandy Quinqe, the homeowner's association president, drivers use the roadway as a 'cut-through' street to get from Rifle Range Road to Ben Sawyer Boulevard.
"We had this horrible thing," said Brittany Webb, an Oaks at Marsh View resident. "Had we just gotten a speed bump that we'd been asking for, this could have slowed him down.
Three traffic studies have been conducted on the road, but none have led to the installation of speed humps, prompting neighbors to bring their requests directly to the town council after a recent near-miss incident.
Residents are hopeful that the town council will take their concerns seriously and install speed humps to improve safety on Mossy Branch Way.
